How to Keep Your Look Feminine and Fun in the Fall

When the cold weather kicks in, our first instinct is to throw on our biggest jacket, turn to our warmest boots and head into hibernation mode. Because, brrrr.

Sometimes the need to bundle up can create boredom and frustration with your look during the colder seasons, but your wardrobe and style don’t need to suffer to stay warm. We’re not saying ditch the parkas and boots just yet, you’ll 100% need those but you can still have some fun playing around with integrating feminine pieces into your look. Say hello to Adorn Boutique - a little shop in Calgary that also has an e-commerce store for the ladies who are located elsewhere. Adorn keeps things light, airy and feminine even during the coldest of days. Read on for some tips and tricks on how to keep your wardrobe feeling fresh this season.

1. It's all about layering.

For a flattering layered fall look, we love to pair a button-up shirt (which we knotted in the front to add some dimension) with a nice wool coat and a jogger. We layered some delicate necklaces with it to make it feel more feminine, and added a black suede heel.

Once the weather gets colder switch up your lighter layer to a cozy knit and swap out those heels for boots. Also, we don't know if you noticed but this coat is REVERSIBLE (say what!). We all get tired of wearing the same two or three coats all winter, and this is a great solution to help you change things up. You can wear it grey, or navy, depending on what works best with your outfit.

2. Rock the over-the-knee boots.

Just because you're wearing a skirt or dress in the fall, doesn't mean you have to wear tights. We love the over-the-knee boot trend and they look so sophisticated paired with a dress or skirt and a feminine blouse. We added a felt hat in a soft pink colour to make this look feel a bit more "fall".

3. Don't be afraid to rock a floral print in the fall.

Swap your light pastel florals for some darker floral prints for the fall season. We paired this pretty off-the-shoulder dress with our over-the-knee boots from look two (see how versatile they are) and a black felt hat. Throw a fluffy sweater, or a little jacket over top on a chillier day.
