You get to choose how you want to show up every day — choose positivity.
We know that it can sometimes be hard to maintain a positive outlook in times of hardship but trust us when we say, the rewards are highly in your favour. You get what you put into life so let's make some lemonade out of those lemons with these five tips:
1. Don't complain.
You boost your mood instantly by not complaining. Nobody needs that type of verbal negativity anyway. You can choose to jump into completing a task or you can sit around and complain about it. Opt-in for just doing it. Not only is it better for everybody around you, it's better for you and your mindset. Relieve yourself of this negativity and you'll find a) you get more done in a day and b) you will become happier overall.
2. Include an affirmation in your alarm.
This is the perfect way to start your day. Use your alarm as a daily motivator to choose positivity right off the bat. Adding a little piece of positivity to an otherwise major trigger for negativity will shift you from dreading those mornings to loving the process. Add a 'Label' to your alarm and roll out of bed ready to conquer the day. Affirmations to get you started:
"You totally got this."
"You can do anything you set your mind to."
"Things worthwhile don't come easy. Trust the process."
3. Filter through the negativity.
You are a reflection of the people you spend the most time with. If you are choosing to spend time with negative nancies, this will absolutely affect the way you view the world and will put a damper on your mood. Rid yourself of anyone who makes you feel less than or that has a negative energy about them. These are not your people.
4. Set boundaries.
Setting clear boundaries helps you make more informed decisions that actually serve you. If you feel pressured to do something you don't want to do, it most likely isn't the right fit and isn't fulfilling you. Cut that shit out. Say yes to the things you want to spend energy on and ditch the stuff you don't want in your life. You will instantly feel cleansed and free of those bad vibes.
5. Check-in with yourself daily.
You check-in on your friends often but do you check-in on yourself? It's so much easier to say, "How are you doing?" to someone else than it is to reflect inward on ourselves but do the work. You will instantly reap the benefits of a mental check on how you are feeling; mind, body, and soul. Try to carve out some time to do this each day and make it part of your routine.
